Philadelphia Phillies superstar slugger Kyle Schwarber became the first player to reach 25 home runs this season after launching one against the Miami Marlins on Tuesday.

The reigning National League home run leader sent his 25th of the season off Miami's Tyler Phillips in the bottom of the fourth inning to give his team an 8-0 lead.

Schwarber, 33, was tied atop the league with 24 home runs alongside Houston Astros star Yordan Alvarez. Heading into Tuesday's game, Schwarber posted the best slugging percentage (.536) in the NL, while also leading the league with 106 strikeouts (.247 batting average).

The reigning NL MVP runner-up is coming off a season where he led the NL with 56 home runs and all of baseball with 126 RBI in the full 162 games.

After his third All-Star season in the MLB, the Phillies signed Schwarber to a five-year, $150 million contract extension this past offseason, and he's been living up to the payday.

Last season, Schwarber even led the National League to their second All-Star Game win in the past three years following the first-ever home run-off.

After a rough start to the season, the Phillies sit at second place in the National League East division with a 39-33 record and are looking for their 40th against the Marlins on Tuesday.
