Cano, 32, is currently in the midst of arguably the best season of his career. He's tossing a 2.21 ERA through 48 games this season, with opponents hitting a career-low .199 off of him.
His new deal buys out the last two years of arbitration as Baltimore keeps him on the team through 2029. The Orioles originally acquired Cano from the Minnesota Twins during the 2022 season, and he's been on the team ever since.
Before his brutal 2025 season, when he finished with a 5.12 ERA, Cano made his first All-Star appearance in 2023, the same year he finished with a career-best 2.11 ERA and tossed back-to-back years (2023-2024) with exactly 65 strikeouts in each.
This is now the sixth Orioles player to receive an extension since new owner David Rubenstein took the mantle. Other deals include Pete Alonso (five years, $155 million), Samuel Basallo (eight years, $67 million), and Kyle Bradish (five years, $95 million).
