Next season's winner of the Danish domestic league will qualify for the Champions League playoffs in 2027/28, which means they will only have to beat one outfit to qualify for the league phase of the prestigious competition.

When Omonia Nicosia was kicked out of the Conference League on Thursday evening, it was good news for Danish football.

Omonia's defeat means that Denmark are now no longer at risk of being overtaken by Cyprus in UEFA's five-year coefficient ranking, which means the former will finish the season in at least 14th place.

Denmark already secured five European places in the 2027/28 season - including two in the Champions League qualification, but finishing in the top 14 significantly improves the chances for next season's Superliga winner.

Instead of the second qualifying round, which is the round of entry for this year's winner, the Danish champions from the 2026/27 season enter directly into the Champions League playoff in the following season.

Thus, just one victory is needed to get into the Champions League league phase, where FC Copenhagen had to go through three qualifying rounds to qualify the competition this term.

In addition, the Superliga winner in the 2026/27 season is guaranteed Europa League participation if they lose the Champions League playoff tie.

Next season's runners up enters the second round of UCL qualification, while the Danish Cup winner starts Europa League in the third qualifying round of the Europa League.

Both the third place and winner of the Superliga's European playoff enter the Conference League Q2.
