Team Esbjerg began the most hectic period of the season with two world class goalkeepers, but within a few weeks, both Anna Kristensen and, most recently, Katharina Filter were hit by injuries that kept them out of the decisive matches for the Danish Championship title.
When the need was greatest, help turned out to be at hand, as the future goalkeeper, Silje Solberg Osthassel, has been visiting her heavily pregnant twin sister, Sanna Solberg-Isaksen, with her family in recent days. She was registered in Team Esbjerg's squad before the deadline, 15 February, and can play as an amateur for the club for the rest of the season.
"It's quite crazy to be hit by two injuries in such a short space of time in the same position. In that situation, I have taken up the challenge to help the team. I haven't played matches since January last year for Vipers in Norway, and now I have to turn up my mental game to be prepared for important matches for Team Esbjerg. I'm fine, and we'll see how it goes", says Silje Solberg, who met her new teammates and trained with them on Monday.
She gave birth to her second daughter, Tuva, in October and resumed training at the end of February in Oslo. Above all, she brings to Esbjerg the experience from one of the most successful club and national team careers in international women's handball.
