Aalborg Handball will be without one of their key players for up to several months. Sander Sagosen has sustained a stress injury in his pelvis and could be sidelined for several months.
The club has announced this on their website.
"It is incredibly frustrating, because I had a good pre-season and felt I got off to a strong start to the season. We have a long and intense autumn ahead of us, so naturally, I would have liked to be part of the squad and able to contribute," Sagosen says.
"On top of that, it is obviously annoying that it could take anywhere from 6 to 14 weeks before I am ready again."
Sagosen sustained the injury during the league match against Fredericia on 2 September. He finished the match but was in pain, the club reports.
Subsequent examinations revealed the pelvic stress injury, which requires a lengthy period of rest. The Norwegian backcourt player is currently in his second stint with the North Jutland club.
He played for the team from 2014 to 2017 before moving on to Paris Saint-Germain, followed by THW Kiel and Kolstad. He returned to Aalborg a year and a half ago after Kolstad ran into financial difficulties.
With the Norwegian national team, he has won World Championship silver medals in both 2017 and 2019, as well as a European Championship bronze medal in 2020.
