Senior News Editor - Germany

Join us for a new exciting project! Our next goal is to expand our Flashscore apps with original sports news, which is why we are building local editorial hubs in several countries around the world. 

We are currently looking for new colleagues for the position of Senior News Editor for the German editorial team. We are looking for seasoned journalists, who will cover sports news from their country on a daily basis.

What will you do?

  • Follow current sports events in Germany.
  • Write and edit stories in your native language and then publish them through our internal CMS.
  • Be responsible for the timeliness, factual accuracy, grammar and quality of the content.
  • Search for relevant photos for articles. 
  • Work independently, but also actively collaborate with colleagues in the team.
  • Participate in the coordination of junior editors, with whom you will consult and ensure the functioning of the newsdesk on an ongoing basis.
  • As our project is in its infancy, you will have the opportunity to come up with ideas to improve it both in terms of content and functionality. 

How do we picture you?

  • Your knowledge of sports on a local level (football, tennis, athletics, etc.) is excellent, and you also have a good grasp of world sports events.
  • You have at least 5 years of proven experience in sports reporting and creating content in an online environment.
  • You are a native speaker of German with excellent writing and communication skills.
  • You also speak English at an advanced level.
  • You have experience working on a CMS (e.g. WordPress, etc.) and you are no stranger to MS Office or Google Suite tools.
  • Your strengths are independence, reliability and responsibility.
  • You have great team spirit.
  • You are flexible and work well under pressure.

What do we offer?

  • Long-term, full-time, remote cooperation on a freelance basis.
  • 40 hours per week split into 12-hour shifts with a longer and shorter week, including evenings and weekends.
