After our women's finalists were confirmed, it is time for the men's semi-finals at the US Open, and one thing is for sure: an American will take part in the showpiece event on Sunday. Flashscore will keep you up to date with all the latest at Flushing Meadows on a huge day of action.

05:00 CET - He's done it! Ben Shelton defeats Frances Tiafoe 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 7-5 to advance to his first-ever Grand Slam final, where he'll take on top seed and world No. 2 Alexander Zverev.

Shelton's run at the US Open has been incredible. After winning his first three matchups in four sets each, he defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets, then knocked off world No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz in one of the greatest matches in US Open history that went past 3:00 a.m. local time.

He is now the first Black American man since Arthur Ashe in 1972 to reach the US Open final and will now be playing for the title in New York on the weekend of the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy.

04:03 CET - Shelton takes the lead after another 6-3 set win over Tiafoe! He's now just one set away from advancing to his first-ever US Open final, where Alexander Zverev awaits.

Meanwhile, Tiafoe looks to climb back and avoid another semi-finals knockout for the third time in the past five years.

03:05 CET - Just as Tiafoe did in the first set, Shelton wins three straight games to take the second set 6-3 as it's now all tied up!

Shelton currently has nine aces and a 75% first-serve percentage entering the third set.

02:30 CET - Tiafoe wins three straight games to take the first set from Shelton, 6-4!

01:45 CET - The second men's semi-final match is now underway in a battle between the Americans, Ben Shelton and Frances Tiafoe!

00:16 CET - Alexander Zverev returns to the US Open final after downing Karen Khachanov in the first semi-final! The number one seed came from behind in a second successive tiebreak to clinch the third set and book his place in the final.

The second and third set tiebreaks were the highlights of a highly enjoyable semi-final on Arthur Ashe.

That is now back-to-back-to-back Grand Slam finals for Zverev, who is very much the man to beat in Sunday's final.

23:14 CET - An epic second set that ebbed and flowed one way and then the other, as Alexander Zverev broke Karen Khachanov first before the Russian broke back later in the set. In the end, it was decided by a tiebreak.

The tiebreak was very much on brand for a set that always felt impossible to call, but Zverev battled his way into a two-set lead and one step away from the US Open final.

21:55 CET - Alexander Zverev had to be patient, but when his chance came, the German took it by breaking Karen Khachanov's serve and then serving out the first set. Zverev has been imperious on serve, and that gave him the basis to attack Khachanov's.

21:10 CET - It is almost time for the first men's US Open semi-final as Alexander Zverev takes on Karen Khachanov.

The players are out on court and warming up so the first set is just moments away.

18:00 CET - Good evening and welcome to our coverage of the men's semi-finals at the US Open, with a massive opportunity for all four players at the final Grand Slam of the year.

The first clash gets underway in three hours, as top seed and Roland Garros champion Alexander Zverev takes on 2022 semi-finalist Karen Khachanov.

After playing exclusively in the night session during the tournament, Zverev will take to the court earlier for the first time, but hasn't yet reached the heights that saw him win his maiden Grand Slam title and reach the Wimbledon final.

He has battled his way through to the last four, but his experience and prowess in five-set tennis stand him in good stead amongst three other players who have never reached a Slam final before.

Unseeded Khachanov will provide Zverev with his toughest test, however. A player who has struggled for his best form this season, the Russian has played some rock-solid tennis during this event to reach a third Grand Slam semi-final.

Interestingly, out of all the players remaining in the draw, Khachanov has the best record against Zverev, winning three times. Yet the German has come out on top on six occasions, winning four of their last five meetings.

In the other blockbuster, all-American semi-final, Ben Shelton and Frances Tiafoe go head-to-head, looking to end their nation's wait for a Grand Slam title

Both players are coming off epic quarter-final victories. Shelton defeated defending champion Carlos Alcaraz at 3.30am, while Tiafoe came from two sets down to overcome Alex Michelsen.
