Suzan Lamens, the highest-ranked Dutch female tennis player, eased her way into the second round of Wimbledon after a 6-1, 6-1 win over American qualifier Iva Jovic.

The 17-year-old Jovic qualified after surviving all three rounds of the qualifying tournament and made her fourth consecutive Grand Slam. Suzan Lamens, the world number 69, made her Wimbledon debut after failing to get through qualifying in previous years.

After starting the match with a love game, Jovic quickly had to fight to stay in the set as Lamens showed no mercy, winning 12 of her 16 service points and forcing eight break points against the young American, who lost the first set 6-1.

Nerves set in for Jovic, whose first service percentage dropped from 69 to 38 per cent as she could not contain Lamens, who fended off three break points en route to another 6-1 set win and a first Grand Slam career win after 73 minutes.

Lamens' Wimbledon campaign continues on Wednesday, when she'll meet 17th-ranked Ekaterina Alexandrova.
