Sweden's only entrant in the 2025 US Open, Andre Goransson, is out of the men's doubles in the First Round after he and his partner Sem Verbeek of the Netherlands were defeated in straight sets (6-3, 6-3) by Frenchmen Sadio Doumbia and Fabien Reboul.

Seeded for both Wimbledon and the French Open earlier this summer, poor performances in both, plus a Second Round exit at last year's US Open meant Goransson and Verbeek weren't one of the 16 seeds at Flushing Meadows.

That meant for a difficult First Round tie against 15th seeds Doumbia and Reboul, though it was the Swede and Dutchman who forced the first break point of the match in game seven.

Not only could they not take advantage, but the French duo broke serve in the next game for a crucial 5-3 lead, before wrapping up the first set in the next game without dropping a point.

Goransson and Verbeek weathered some pressure in the first game of the second set, which resurfaced in the fifth game, as they survived two break points before it was third time lucky for the Frenchmen, who went 3-2 up with their serve to follow.

This year's Australian Open semi-finalists didn't come close to breaking back, and to rub salt in the wounds, Doumbia and Reboul broke again in the ninth, sealing a 6-3, 6-3 win with their second match point.

Doumbia and Reboul will now meet Brazilians Rafael Matos and Marcelo Melo in the Second Round.
