Tennis Tracker: Medvedev outlasts Tien after Rybakina, Paolini & Auger-Aliassime claim wins

It's a star-studded day of action in Wuhan with Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff and Jasmine Paolini all beginning their campaigns, while over in Shanghai, Alex De Minaur and Lorenzo Musetti look to move into the last eight of the ATP Masters 1000 event.

17:25 CET - It is third time lucky for Daniil Medvedev, as the Russian has finally beaten Learner Tien in yet another epic, after losing to the American in their two previous meetings this year.

Medvedev won 7-6(6), 6-7(1), 6-4 in just under three hours, moving into the next round in Shanghai.

17:03 CET - Eighth seed Elena Rybakina had little issue against Jaqueline Cristian, defeating the Romanian 6-4, 6-3 to move into the next round in Wuhan.

15:24 CET - Jasmine Paolini has marched on in her quest for a spot at the WTA Finals, coming back from a set down to outlast Yue Yuan 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.

14:07 CET - An utterly imperious performance from Felix Auger-Aliassime has seen him soar into the Shanghai quarter-finals after a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Lorenzo Musetti. The Canadian blew Musetti off the court, and he continues his great few weeks after his US Open semi-final run and getting married!

12:42 CET - After reaching her maiden WTA 1000 final last week in Beijing, Linda Noskova just keeps motoring on. The Czech continued her excellent form with an impressive 7-6(2), 6-3 win over 11th seed Naomi Osaka.

11:32 CET - Three-time defending Wuhan champion Aryna Sabalenka had to overcome the really tough conditions and a bright performance from Rebecca Sramkova to eventually win 4-6, 6-3, 6-1, moving into the third round.

11:05 CET - 36-year-old home favourite Shuai Zhang has continued her brilliant run in Wuhan, this time defeating Sorana Cirstea in two hours and 12 minutes, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.

10:24 CET - Alex De Minaur and Clara Tauson have both claimed straight-set wins to move through in Shanghai and Wuhan, respectively. It is the former's 50th victory of the season. 

09:16 CET - Third seed and two-time Grand Slam champion Coco Gauff has absolutely stormed into the Wuhan third round, claiming a crushing 6-1, 6-0 win over Moyuka Uchijima in 52 minutes.

08:45 CET - There has been another retirement in Wuhan due to the sweltering heat and humidity. Karolina Muchova was unable to cope with the conditions, retiring after trailing Magdalena Frech 7-6(1), 4-1.

Meanwhile, Liudmila Samsonova clinched a comeback victory over former Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin, winning 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 in just under two hours.

08:18 CET - Arthur Rinderknech's stunning week in Shanghai continues, booking his spot in a maiden Masters 1000 quarter-final after a really impressive 6-3, 7-6(5) win over Jiri Lehecka.

08:10 CET - Sixth seed Jessica Pegula has survived an almighty scare by fellow American Hailey Baptiste, overcoming her opponent 6-4, 4-6, 7-6(6) in just under three hours to move into the next round in Wuhan.

Although the temperature is slightly cooler today, the conditions are still humid and difficult.

07:45 CET - Good morning and welcome to our coverage of today's tennis in Shanghai and Wuhan!

There have already been a couple of notable results in the early hours, with Katerina Siniakova, Ekaterina Alexandrova and lucky loser Iva Jovic all sealing wins. Meanwhile, Belinda Bencic also progressed after her opponent, Elise Mertens, withdrew from their clash.

Karolina Muchova is on court at the moment, as well as Jessica Pegula.

Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff are in action over the next couple of hours against Rebecca Sramkova and Moyuka Uchijima, respectively, while notable names Jasmine Paolini, Naomi Osaka and Elena Rybakina all take to the court a little later on.

Over in Shanghai, Jiri Lehecka is currently taking on Arthur Rinderknech for a spot in the quarter-finals, with Alex De Minaur vs Nuno Borges, Lorenzo Musetti vs Felix Auger-Aliassime and Daniil Medvedev vs Learner Tien all to follow.
