The prestigious Miami Open features the men's singles semi-finals this Friday. Alexander Zverev will seek revenge for his recent defeat as he looks to halt Jannik Sinner’s bid for the Sunshine Double. Earlier in the day, Jiri Lehecka and Arthur Fils will battle for the biggest final of their careers.

Lehecka vs Fils - 20:00 CET

Match news and form

Jiri Lehecka has turned his Miami campaign around in style, reaching the semi-final after winning just two matches across his previous three appearances here.

Carlos Alcaraz’s early exit opened up the section, but Lehecka has made the most of it, notably taking down sixth seed and home favourite Taylor Fritz in the round of 16.

It's a much-needed breakthrough after a physically difficult start to the season that affected both his form and ranking, with this run now set to push him back into the top 20.

The world No. 22 has never reached a Masters final before, and with a maiden opportunity now within touching distance, he will be looking for inspiration to take that next step.

He need not look far, with compatriot Jakub Mensik providing the perfect example after his breakthrough title run here last year as a teenager, defeating the likes of Arthur Fils and Novak Djokovic.

Lehecka will aim to replicate that feat this week, having previously played just one Masters semi-final in his career, which ended in a retirement loss to Felix Auger-Aliassime in Madrid 2024.

Arthur Fils may have lost a significant portion of his 2025 season to injury, but it still stands out as a successful year, highlighted by three Masters-level quarter-final finishes after never previously reaching that stage.

He has taken it a step further this week in Miami by snapping his 0-4 record in the Masters quarter-finals and advancing to the semi-finals.

To get there, he had to survive a huge scare against Tommy Paul, rallying from 2–6 down in the deciding-set tiebreak to complete a remarkable comeback.

Just a couple of months ago, Fils' prospects looked in serious danger as he struggled to even get on court and protect his ranking due to injury concerns.

Since then, however, he has made rapid and impressive strides, reaching at least the quarter-finals in four of the five tournaments he has played this year and compiling a strong 13-4 record in 2026. These are outstanding returns so soon after his comeback, and he now looks set to return to the top 30.

Head-to-head

Fils leads 2-1. They were level at 1-1 at the start of this year, but Fils edged ahead to 2-1 after winning their quarter-final meeting in Doha just a few weeks ago.

Stats & facts

Lehecka holds a solid 6-5 record in semi-finals.

He has won nine of his 13 matches against lower-ranked players in 2026.

Fils is one win away from becoming the first French player since Sebastien Grosjean in 1999 to reach the Miami Masters final.

Fils is unbeaten against non-top 10 players this year, having won all 12 matches.

Betting analysis

Although Lehecka has the tools to trouble Fils or any opponent on his day, Fils is currently performing at a higher level and has been the more consistent and reliable player overall.

The only concern remains his fitness, as he is still in the early stages of his comeback, recently retired from a tournament in Dubai due to injury, and is coming off a demanding three-set battle against Paul.

If he holds up physically, Fils should have the advantage in this matchup.

Zverev vs Sinner - 00:00 CET

Match news and form

No match against Jannik Sinner or Carlos Alcaraz is ever ideal for any player on tour, but the key is to enter those contests with confidence, and Alexander Zverev has done exactly that after a dominant straight-sets win over Francisco Cerundolo in the quarter-finals, an opponent who has troubled him in the past and thrives at this venue.

That said, a similar situation unfolded for Zverev at Indian Wells, where he produced a strong win over Fils in the quarter-finals, only for that momentum to translate into just six games in total against Sinner in the semi-finals.

The doors to big titles and even the world No. 1 ranking appear closed for Zverev, and the only way he can force them open is by beating players like Alcaraz and Sinner more consistently. He will get another opportunity to do so in Miami this Friday.

In fact, he is yet to get past the semi-final stage this year, with both of his losses at that level coming against these two players, falling to Alcaraz at the Australian Open and to Sinner at the Indian Wells Masters.

Jannik Sinner's response to setbacks is usually very strong, and after a slightly shaky outing against Alex Michelsen in the round of 16, he bounced back with trademark authority against Frances Tiafoe in the quarter-finals, sealing a dominant 6-2, 6-2 win.

He is now 10-0 during this Sunshine Swing, with all those victories coming in straight sets, keeping himself firmly on track to become the first player to complete the Sunshine Double since Roger Federer in 2017.

The Italian not only carries an active winning streak on the tour but has also been dominant at this venue in Miami, where he has not lost a match since the 2023 title clash.

He lifted the 2024 title while conceding just one set, marking his maiden triumph at the tournament, and missed last year’s edition due to suspension, which means he arrives for the semi-final on a 10-match winning streak at this event.

Head-to-head

Sinner leads 7-4. These numbers may look encouraging for Zverev, as not many players have managed to record four wins over Sinner, but the problem is that the dynamic of this rivalry has shifted significantly since mid 2023.

Sinner has raised his level and is now on a six-match winning streak in this matchup, turning what was once a competitive rivalry into a far more one-sided contest.

Stats & facts

Zverev is 1-1 in semi-finals at the Miami Masters and holds a 12-12 career record in the Masters semi-finals, currently on a four-match losing streak at this stage.

Zverev has not beaten a higher-ranked player since the Australian Open 2024 and is on an 11-match losing streak against such opponents.

Sinner owns a perfect 3-0 record in the Miami Masters semi-finals.

Sinner is currently on a six-match winning streak in the Masters semi-finals and has a solid 10-4 career record at this stage.

Betting analysis

Zverev has faced a clear mental hurdle in big matches, but his overall quality and ability remain undoubted.

He has also performed relatively well against the current top players like Sinner and Alcaraz, as well as the traditional Big Four, compared to most players, and even came close to beating Alcaraz at the Australian Open 2026.

Assuming he has taken some lessons from his recent semi-final defeat at Indian Wells and arrives with a more aggressive, attacking approach, the chances of him avoiding another one-sided loss and making this match more competitive are higher.

That makes options like Zverev +4.5 games handicap, over 9.5 games, and even taking a set look appealing at the current prices.
