Griekspoor, the tournament's top seed, had beaten Pedro Carrena-Busta and Mattia Bellucci on his way to Saturday's semi-final against the Pole. It's the 37th-ranked Dutchman's first tournament since Indian Wells.
Griekspoor couldn't get off to a good start and lost his first service in just his second service game as Majchrzak beat the Dutchman with a love game to take control of the first set. However, Griekspoor, who continued his aggressive net play from earlier this season, battled his way back into contention and snatched the first set by breaking Majchrzak in consecutive games to win the set 7-5.
A rather service-heavy second set saw Griekspoor and Majchrzak, the 122nd-ranked player in the world, combine for 57 service points from 72 total set points. The pair were especially dangerous on their first service points, of which Griekspoor and Majchrzak won a staggering 39 of 42.
A tie-break would have to decide the winner of the second set in Marrakech, and it was Griekspoor who got off to the best start by winning four of the first five points. After immediately taking a mini-break advantage on Majchrzak's first serve, the Dutchman would claim his first final seed of the year, as Griekspoor only needed one match point to eliminate his Polish opponent.
Griekspoor will play his first final on clay against Luciano Darderi, who beat Roberto Carballes Baena earlier on Saturday.
