18:27 CET - Some more stats to bring you after Jannik Sinner's victory. It's his ninth Masters crown in his career, and his second on clay to go with his four grand slam titles.
The only one left for him is in Rome, and that could happen in quick time as that begins next week.
Speaking after the match at the presentation, Sinner said: "First of all Sascha (Alex Zverev), great week to you and your team. I know it was not your best day today. But I wish you only the best for the rest of the season. Of course, now Rome and Paris are coming up. I wish you only the best. Keep it up."

18:10 CET - What a performance from the world number one! He wins his 28th Masters 1000 match in a row to beat Alexander Zverev 6-1, 6-2 to break new ground on the ATP Tour.
Jannik Sinner has now won his fifth straight Masters crown, starting in Paris, going across the world and now in Madrid, it's an all-time run.
He never looked in much trouble today either. Zverev wasn't able to create a single opportunity on the Sinner serve, whilst he could not defend his own, losing the four crucial points that gave Sinner the breaks of serve he needed to control affairs. The match was over in 55 minutes, showing once more what a dominant force he is on clay without Carlos Alcaraz around.

17:38 CET - Jannik Sinner looks inevitable at the moment, as he leads in Madrid, after taking the first set 6-1 against Alexander Zverev.
His serve was clinical throughout, winning 81% of his points on first serve, whilst Zverev's six unforced errors will need work if he is to get back in the contest.

15:10 CET - Alexander Zverev is a two-time champion in Madrid as well as a three-time finalist. Simply put, the conditions suit him down to a T. The altitude and extra zip have assisted his serve, and he has been very hard to break over the last week and a half.
Following a slow start in his opening match, Zverev has been excellent. After battling past Jakub Mensik in the last 16, he put in imperious performances against Flavio Cobolli and Alexander Blockx, and now finds himself on the cusp of a third trophy in the Spanish capital.
The issue is, his recent results against Jannik Sinner have been awful. They have met in the semi-finals of the last four Masters events, and the Italian has beaten him in straight sets on every single occasion.
After initially leading the head-to-head 4-1, Sinner has reeled off eight wins in a row. It has become a nightmare match-up.
Zverev will somehow have to find a way to reverse this trend. If he is going to do it anywhere, Madrid is probably his best chance.

14:00 CET - Jannik Sinner stands on the brink of history. The world number one can become the first player to win five Masters 1000 titles in a row if he comes out on top against Alexander Zverev - a truly remarkable feat.
The Italian has looked slightly fatigued over the last week and a bit as he navigates a tricky schedule, yet he has been miles ahead of anyone else still, swatting aside young guns Rafa Jodar and Arthur Fils on his way to the final.
It is poised to be a huge few weeks for Sinner. With Carlos Alcaraz out injured, he has the chance to reign victorious in Madrid, Rome, and Roland Garros, which would see him become the youngest player to win the Career Golden Masters, while also achieving the Career Grand Slam.
Who would bet against him completing the set, starting with victory this afternoon?
