The remaining spots in the Cincinnati Open last-16 will be filled today, with Carlos Alcaraz and Coco Gauff among those looking to move a step closer to glory in Ohio.

04:00 CET - Play has been halted for the night due to rain and lightning in the area. Action will pick up again tomorrow.

01:45 CET - World number 26 Jiri Lehecka has prevailed in Cincinnati after powering past Adam Walton 7-6 (5), 7-6 (3).

01:20 CET - We have another upset here, as Lucia Bronzetti comes from a set down to get past Jelena Ostapenko 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.

00:35 CET - An upset has just gone down on the women's side, as Varvara Gracheva has beaten Karolina Muchova 6-2, 6-4 to make it to round four in Cincinnati.

00:02 CET - Canadian Open runner-up Karen Khachanov has extended his fine run of form, moving into the next round in Cincinnati with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Jenson Brooksby.

With a US Open semi-final already under his belt from 2022, he's one to watch as we enter the business end of the North American swing.

22:58 CET - Carlos Alcaraz marches on! The Spaniard didn't have things all his own way but he got the job done, beating Hamad Medjedovic 6-4, 6-4 to advance.

Things didn't go well for another young seed though, with Jakub Mensik retiring due to illness while trailing Luca Nardi 6-2, 2-1. It seems that he was the latest of many to struggle with the heat this week.

22:15 CET - Andrey Rublev has prevailed in one of the most gruelling three-setters of the year, beating Alexei Popyrin 6-7, 7-6, 7-5 after three hours and 28 minutes, with a lengthy rain delay also thrown in for good measure. That feels like a big win for the Russian.

Women's seventh seed Jasmine Paolini has made it through without such trouble, beating Ashlyn Krueger 7-6, 6-1.

21:20 CET - Big serving American Reilly Opelka is out, with Francisco Comesana beating him 6-7, 6-4, 7-5 after saving three match points in a battle that lasted for just under three hours.

19:43 CET - World number two Coco Gauff is also through to the fourth round with Dayana Yastremska withdrawing from their match due to illness.

19:33 CET - The first completed match of the day went the way of Ella Seidel, who has claimed a surprise 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (6) win over 29th seed McCartney Kessler.

Minutes later, Barbora Krejcikova beat Iva Jovic 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 to join the German in the round of 16.

16:57 CET - Play is about to get underway in Cincinnati, and the standout clash among the opening matches will see ninth seed Andrey Rublev take on 21st seed Alexei Popyrin, who has won the past two meetings between them.

Let the games begin!
