The Frenchman will commit his future to Arsenal, as reported by The Athletic journalist, David Ornstein, who first broke the news on Thursday morning.
“EXCLUSIVE: William Saliba commits future to Arsenal by agreeing new long-term contract. 24yo centre-back entered final 2yrs of previous deal + Real Madrid among suitors," he said on X.
“But France int’l wanted #AFC stay & expected to sign in coming days.”
Saliba had been the subject of interest from Madrid for a number of months as the LaLiga giants attempted to upgrade their defence after raiding a number of Premier League sides for their defensive assets, such as Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen.
Saliba's current terms expire in June 2027, and he joins the likes of centre-back partner Gabriel Magalhaes and fellow defender Myles Lewis-Skelly in signing fresh terms earlier this season.
In June, Saliba insisted he was happy in North London and hinted he would stay.
