Alejandro Garnacho is hoping to kick-start his Aston Villa career this week as he aims to cement a permanent move from Chelsea.

The winger has made just three Premier League substitute appearances since arriving at Villa, totalling 31 minutes, and was an unused substitute in their opening Champions League game against Club Brugge.

He was left on the bench for the first match back after the international break, a 2-2 draw with Brentford, but the next few days could provide an important opportunity to make his mark.

Sources indicate there have been encouraging signs in his attitude, motivation and training - and that the coming fixtures could offer a chance to build momentum.

Unai Emery must balance minutes across his squad during a demanding run of games, potentially creating an opening for the 22-year-old to show why Villa moved to bring him in.

Garnacho's arrival from Chelsea was something of a surprise, but Villa viewed the deal as a market opportunity.

The initial loan agreement includes a route to a permanent transfer worth €50 million if the winger makes enough appearances, and sources indicate the club still expect that condition to be met.

Such confidence suggests Villa remain optimistic about Garnacho's longer-term role despite his limited involvement so far.

The immediate challenge is to translate that belief into meaningful minutes and demonstrate that he can become an important part of Emery's plans.

Garnacho joined Chelsea from Manchester United with a reputation to trouble defenders in one-on-one situations. Those qualities would be valuable to Villa as they juggle domestic and European commitments, but he needs opportunities to lift himself and show consistency.

The next two matches will not decide his future, but they could represent a turning point in a spell that has yet to get going. With a permanent transfer on the horizon, Garnacho has a clear incentive to seize any opening Emery gives him.
