In the keenly contested fixture played at the Estadio Martinez Valero, the Togo international was given the marching orders in the 38th minute by referee Victor Garcia.
Djene was punished for serious foul play against German Valera, and that saw the Deep Blue Ones reduced to 10 men for the rest of the game.
The dismissal means the African defender now holds the unwanted distinction of being the player with the most red cards across Europe’s five major leagues, having been sent off 10 times since making his LaLiga debut nine seasons ago.
Known for his aggressive defensive style, the Togolese centre-back has been a key figure for Getafe since joining them from Sint-Truidense in 2017.

Interestingly, Sevilla appear to be the side that has troubled Djene the most, with three of his dismissals coming against the Andalusian club.
Despite the disciplinary record, he remains one of Getafe’s most trusted defenders and a respected figure in Togolese football.
Defeat for Jose Bordalas’ men mean they drop to seventh in the Spanish topflight with 48 points from 37 league outings so far.
Getafe host Osasuna in their last game of the season on May 23rd, with victory helping them confirm their place in Europe next season.
