Danish international winger Anders Dreyer says to Dutch media Het Laatste Nieuwsblad that Belgian outfit Anderlecht were in the midst of a huge chaos, when he chose to leave the club in January.

San Diego acquired Dreyer as their second signing in club history and agreed a three-year contract with him through the end of the 2027 MLS season on a permanent transfer from Belgium’s R.S.C. Anderlecht in the end of January, and Dreyer says today that it was the perfect time to leave the Belgian outfit.

"I felt it was time to leave the club. It was chaos."

"First Brian Riemer (who went on to become Danish national team coach) was fired, and then (sports director) Jesper Fredberg had to leave. I was Jesper's first transfer, and I had a great collaboration with Brian. Then you know the book is closed. The club also put pressure on me to leave the club", says Dreyer.

Dreyer also defends Riemer's playing style, which was accused of being defensive.

"We scored enough goals. But what do the fans want? Do they prefer exciting, attacking football, where you only win two or three out of five games? Or do they prefer more organized football, where you win four out of five games and fight for the title?", says Dreyer.

The 26-year old Dreyer spent two seasons playing for R.S.C. Anderlecht in the Belgian Pro League, where he made 87 appearances, scoring 31 goals and providing 23 assists across all competitions.

Dreyer has so far played nine matches for San Diego where he has scored three goals and made three assists.
