Travelling to Czechia defending a one-goal lead, the task was always likely to be difficult for Ferencvaros.
They were on the back foot from the get-go and were fortunate not to fall behind when Lukas Cerv’s effort was cleared off the line by Julio Romao.
The Hungarian side signalled their own intent at the other end through Matheus Saldanha, who curled inches wide.
A topsy-turvy clash continued when Plzen worked an opening of their own, but Lukas Kalvach’s deflected effort was incredibly saved by David Grof.
Ferencvaros’ resistance was eventually broken shortly before the half-hour mark when Rafiu Durosinmi powered a header goalwards, and after Grof initially produced a fine save, a combination of Durosinmi and Vaclav Jemelka bundled the ball over the line.
The tie was completely turned on its head only eight minutes later, and there was no doubt over whose goal that was, as Pavel Sulc powered home after being teed up by Matej Vydra.
That goal nudged Plzen ahead on aggregate and they added a third goal to potentially kill the tie just minutes later, with Durosinmi turning home Sulc’s cross at the near post.
The Hungarian side were going to have to come out fighting, and boss Robbie Keane made a double switch at half-time in a desperate attempt to change the flow of the game.
His substitutions certainly didn’t have the desired effect, as Ferencvaros struggled to create chances in a second half that turned out to be a bit of a non-event.
That suited the hosts, who knew their work for the evening was done, and they were content to simply sit in and see the tie out.

They were ultimately successful in doing so despite Ferencvaros upping the ante in the dying stages.
A fifth win from six second-leg knockout home ties proved to be enough to get the Czech side over the line, but the scoreline should’ve been much more comfortable with Prince Kwabena Adu striding through on goal but he incredibly skewed well wide with only Grof to beat.
However, it was another heavy Europa League defeat for Ferencvaros, who have now lost their last three away games in this competition by a 10-0 aggregate scoreline.
