FC Midtjylland are on the verge of qualifying for the Europa League after the Danes recorded a 4-0 win against Finnish outfit KuPS in the first leg of their playoff round clash in the qualification for the tournament.

Straight from kickoff, the home side underlined the difference that you would expect from teams from the Danish and the Finnish league. KuPS struggled to break free of the intense Danish pressure and FC Midtjylland took control of the match.

After a quarter of an hour, the pressure paid off when Polish international striker Adam Buksa was given time and space to break into the Finnish box to finish off with a shot that really should have been saved by Finnish keeper Johannes Kreidl.

Just two minutes later the home side doubled the lead when Dario Osorio curled a terrrfic left-footed attempt into the far corner from inside the box.

But then FC Midtjylland fell asleep. The defensive work faltered, the number of Danish runs decreased, and suddenly the visitors took over proceedings.

Three times before the break, Elias Olafsson had to pull out big saves to avoid the Finns from reducing the deficit but the Finns still didn't manage to get themselves back into the match.

KuPS showed promising football after the break but never managed to turn the tide in their favour and instead the Danes put the game effectively out of reach for the visitors with two goals in the final ten minutes.

Ten minutes before the end Junior Brumado hammered the ball into the roof of the net and two minutes later Valdemar Byskov headed home a pinpoint delivery from Paulinho to put the Danes solidly in control before the return leg.
