“On Thursday morning (January 29), the French winger was informed of the decision by the sporting leadership after a clarifying meeting. During the discussion, Dompé was emphatically reminded of his responsibilities as a professional, a role model, and a representative of the club,” Hamburger SV said in a statement.
According to German media Bild, Dompé had a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.14% when stopped by police. He was taken by the police to the station for a blood test, where his driver’s license was confiscated.
According to an additional report, Dompé used an e-scooter to get home when he left the station, which was witnessed by officers who subsequently filed another charge against him.
According to German reports, Albert Gronbaek will complete his medical at HSV on Thursday and could replace Jean-Luc Dompé on the left wing or in a false 9 position as a deep-dropping center-forward.
Gronbaek is looking to kickstart his career again after failed stays at Rennes, Southamption and Genoa.
