Orlando Pirates have confirmed that assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi has left the club to take up a head coaching role at former side Lamontville Golden Arrows in the Premier Soccer League.

It ends a five-year stay at Pirates for Ncikazi, who joined from Golden Arrows in 2021 and won nine trophies during his time at the club.

“Mandla leaves with our gratitude and our blessing,” Pirates chairman Irvin Khoza said. “His contribution to Orlando Pirates has been evident throughout his time with us. We respect his wish to pursue this new opportunity and wish him success as he takes on a new responsibility.”

Pirates did not reveal where Ncikazi would be going, and amid rumours of a fallout between the pair, head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou said he wished his former colleague well.

“We read many things about that, everything is OK in our club, the environment is OK, so people must not start to create any problems,” Ouaddou said.

“Someone who is kissing someone on his head, you cannot start to invent any stories.”

Golden Arrows announced they had parted ways with their head coach Pitso Dladla on Thursday.
