Odense Handball has reached an agreement with German international Nieke Kuhne, effective from the summer of 2027. The 21-year-old left back, who currently plays for HSG Blomberg-Lippe, has signed a contract until the summer of 2030.

Although Nieke’s first day in Odense is still a year away, Nieke will get to meet her new teammates twice in the Champions League group stage.

Head coach Jakob Vestergaard looks forward to Nieke joining the squad: "Nieke is a two-way player who excels at finishing but also possesses impressive vision in her passing game. At the same time, she can cover multiple defensive positions, so she is a player I look forward to working with", says Verstergaard in a press release.

CEO Lasse Honoré is pleased with the timing of the deal:

"Nieke is a player the club has been following for quite some time. I believe the timing of this signing demonstrates foresight, as there is no doubt she has the potential to go very far. I am confident that this agreement will be a win for both parties."

Nieke Kuhne is excited to show everyone in and around Odense what she can bring to the team: "I am really happy to have signed with Odense. It is a club with great ambitions, and that appeals to me a lot. I already know several players in the squad, and I have heard and experienced nothing but positive things about Odense from them. I am a player who wears my heart on my sleeve on the court, and that strengthens the way I love to play handball."

Odense plays their first official game of the 2026/2027 season on Sunday, 23 August, against Team Esbjerg in the Danish Super Cup.
