The New York Mets acquired relief pitcher Tyler Rogers from the San Francisco Giants in a trade on Wednesday.

San Fran will receive (RP) Jose Butto, Mets No. 12 prospect (OF) Drew Gilbert, and No. 10 prospect (SP) Blade Tidwell.

Rogers has been having a fantastic year for the Giants, tossing a 1.80 earned run average in 53 games. The 34-year-old sidearm reliever has just 10 earned runs on 39 hits in 50 innings, along with 38 strikeouts and four walks.

Opponents are hitting .212 against Rogers this season, who currently boasts a fantastic 0.86 WHIP.

The 27-year-old Butto is having a solid season himself, posting a 3.64 ERA in 34 games. Butto has given up 19 earned runs on 43 hits in 47 innings along with 41 strikeouts and 22 walks. However, opponents are hitting .251 against Butto this season.

As for the prospects, Gilbert is having a good year in the minors, slashing .252/.354/.450 with 14 home runs and 53 RBI. Gilbert leaped from Single-A to Triple-A this season and is looking to be pro-ready within a year.

Tidwell had a couple of rough outings for the Mets this season, but has spent the majority of 2025 in Triple-A with a 4.10 ERA in 16 games (14 starts).

The 24-year-old has 87 strikeouts in 79 innings this season, allowing 36 earned runs on 70 hits. Opponents are batting .233 against Tidwell in Triple-A this season, which is down from the .245 in 2023.

San Francisco got a great haul for Rogers in securing three solid and promising young players in one of the best hauls at the 2025 MLB Trade Deadline.
