San Jose (14-26-6) don't see the win column as often as most teams in the league do, but the Sharks rallied with four goals in the third period to beat the Red Wings 6-3, completing the two-game season series sweep.
This marks the biggest Sharks win of the season since they beat the Seattle Kraken 8-5 on November 29th. Jan Rutta (2), Nico Sturm (5), William Eklund (10), Mikael Granlund (12), Tyler Toffoli (16), and Mario Ferraro (4) all scored for the Sharks.
Jets 6-1 Canucks
Kyle Connor (26) started off the game with a hat-trick in the first period to put the Jets up 3-0, making life difficult for the Canucks the rest of the game. The Jets then scored three more goals from Neal Pionk (6), Nino Niederreiter (12), and Mark Scheifele (26) before Nils Hoglander (3) was able to put one in for the Canucks.
The Jets improve to 30-12-2 on the season while the Canucks (19-14-10) drop game one of the season series. The two will face off again on March 18th
Capitals 3-0 Ducks
The Capitals extended their point streak to eight games after their shutout over the Ducks. Brandon Duhaime (5), John Carlson (4), and Ethen Frank (2) all put one in net for Washington while the goaltender stays hot as he records his first shutout of the season.
The Caps extend their number one seed holding over the rest of the Eastern Conference as they improve to 29-10-5 while the Ducks fall to 18-21-5, losing four of their last five games.
Around the league
The Boston Bruins dropped six goals in their 6-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning while the Columbus Blue Jackets win 3-2 over the Flyers after a shootout.
The Seattle Kraken took one home in their 4-2 win over the Penguins, marking their third straight loss and eighth in their last 10 games. Dallas put up four goals in their 4-1 over the Toronto Maple Leafs who are also now riding a three-game losing streak.
The Florida Panthers bested the New Jersey Devils in a shootout to ultimately win 2-1. Aleksander Barkov and Anton Lundell both scored for the Panthers.
The New York Islanders suffered their seventh shutout of the season after falling 2-0 to the Ottawa Senators. Meanwhile, the Nashville Predators collected a solid 5-3 win over the Vegas Golden Knights
In the later games, the St. Louis Blues got the best of the Calgary Flames in their 2-1 win while the Colorado Avalanche won it 3-2 in overtime over the New York Rangers.
Finally, the Montreal Canadiens wrapped up the big slate of games with a 5-3 win over the Utah Hockey Club.
