Two victories and an overtime loss in the first three rounds was enough for Tappara to justify their tag as one of the favourites for the competition, while Rogle had taken time to get going in the competition, losing their first two without scoring before registering a shutout of their own against Salzburg.
And for the fourth time in a row, there would be a shutout in a Rogle game, and for the second time running, it would be the Angelholm side who secured it, thanks to 13 saves from Arvid Holm and five from Calle Clang.
At the other end, Rogle got the business done well before the midpoint of the match, as Filip Johansson broke the deadlock in the sixth minute and Joel Kellman gave his side some breathing space late in the first period, before two goals in 20 seconds in the fourth minute of the second period - one from Lubos Horky and another from Oskar Jellvik - took the home side out of sight.
Tappara had no answer to the 4-0 scoreline, as they fell to their first defeat in 60 minutes and now sit in 10th place. They are on seven points, one more than Rogle a place behind.
Vaxjo Lakers are up to 12th in the standings as their inconsistent campaign struck a positive chapter as they beat Salzburg 6-3 at home, leaving the Austrian side on just three points so far.
Eemeli Suomi and Jimi Suomi both struck early on before Hugo Gustafsson added a third before the first period was over, and the match was all but over seven minutes into period two after Dennis Rasmussen added his name to the scoresheet and Eemeli notched his second to make it 5-0.
Dennis Robertson got Salzburg on the board midway through the match, and the visitors threatened a brilliant comeback in period three as Benjamin Nissner and Nicholas Poisson cut the deficit to two with over 15 minutes to play.
However, Vaxjo held off the challenge, and Lukas Elvenes found the empty net in the last minute to close out the Lakers' second win of the CHL season.
