Odense's Danish international goalkeeper Althea Reinhardt is ready to return to action after a lengthy absence after she suffered a serious concussion during the European championships in December last year.

It has been almost four months since Althea Reinhardt was struck in the head by a ball and was forced to leave the Danish national team during the European Championship with a concussion.

On Wednesday night the Danish national team goalkeeper is back in the squad for her club Odense, who faces Copenhagen Handball in the Danish domestic league.

Since her accident at the European championships information about her potential progress has been scarce.

Trine Nielsen, the soon to be former sports director, in January said the club is taking it "day by day, week by week". But now the 28-year-old goalkeeper is ready to play.

On Tuesday, Reinhardt said to Odense Handball's website:

"I feel good and have started to train fully again. Of course, I can feel that I have been out for a while, but I feel better and better in training.

"It has been a longer rehabilitation process than I had hoped for Fortunately, I have been in safe hands, and the club has taken really good care of me. So now I am looking forward to being back  soon and fighting alongside the girls."

In the absence of Reinhardt, Odense signed the 44-year old Norwegian international goalkeeper, Katrine Lunde and the club is yet to lose a game this season.
