Reigning Olympic - and World Champions Denmark on Sunday night secured "the treble" as they won the European Championship by winning 34-27 over Germany.

Denmark claimed their first European title since 2012 in front of 15.000 spectators in Jyske Bank Boxen to become the first team since France in 2010 to be at once world, Olympic, and European champions.

Kevin Moller was named the Player of the Match. His impact was immense when he replaced Emil Nielsen, and he ended with eight saves (35 per cent). That shouldn't minimise Andreas Wolff's performance; the German goalkeeper justified his All-Star Team inclusion with 14 saves (31 per cent).

Simon Pytlick was leading goal scorer of the match with eight goals from 12 attempts; Johannes Golla, Juri Knorr, and Marko Grgić all scored five goals for Germany

Mathias Gidsel ended the tournament as the leading goal scorer with a huge 68 goals, smashing the previous record for the most scored at one Men's EHF EURO.

In 2019, Denmark’s incredible World Championship trophy run started when they beat Norway in the final in Herning. Three more consecutive trophies on the global stage followed, in 2021, 2023, and 2025.

In 2021, they secured the silver medal at the Tokyo Olympic Games. Three years later, the Danes took their second gold medal under the five rings, beating Germany in the clearest Olympic final ever, after the first gold in 2016.

The final was attended by Danish Queen Mary and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who both took part in the medal ceremony.
