GOG on Wednesday wasted a four-goal lead in a dramatic finish against Eurofarm Pelister from North Macedonia, but still managed to book their ticket for the 1/8-finals of the Champions through a 28-28.

With two rounds left in the group stage, GOG are four points clear of Eurofarm Pelister in seventh place, which triggers an exit from the Champions League.

But because GOG won the reverse match in North Macedonia, the Danes booked the ticket for the next phase of the tournament.

GOG came close to throwing it all away in the second half of Wednesday's showdown. The home side were ahead for a long time, but the Macedonians suddenly came alive in the second half, while the Danish' attacking play came to a standstill.

However, the GOG players regained control in the absolute final phase, and even if the atmosphere went somewhat stale in Svendborg, the yellow-clad Danes will probably be satisfied to move on in the tournament.

Apart from the fact that the big and strong defensive specialist Anton Lindskog suffered an early injury, GOG had a really good start to the match.

Thanks to his speed and good eye for the game, Oli Mittun helped GOG to a solid lead. And between the posts, Salah Boutaf had a save percentage of almost 50% before the half-time whistle. At the same time, the Macedonian opponents struggled to open the GOG defense, and so the Danes led 15-11 at halftime.

The visitors managed to turn the momentum in the second half and suddenly scored six goals in seven minutes. The Danes struggled to find solutions in attack, while the Macedonian national team goalkeeper Nikola Mitrevski pulled off several strong reflex saves.

The Macedonians drew level with nine minutes to go, and with seven minutes left, the Macedonians were ahead. But in a nerve-wracking and intense finish, GOG recovered at the last moment to earn a draw.
