Former Baltimore Ravens defensive lineman Arthur Jones passed away at the age of 39, according to the team on Friday.

The cause of death was described as "sudden," but the team didn't provide any more details.

Jones spent the first four years of his career with the Ravens before playing with the Indianapolis Colts for two years and the then Washington Redskins before officially retiring after the 2017 season.

The Rochester, New York native was drafted by Baltimore in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He would go on to post 120 tackles, 22 quarterback hits, 13 tackles for a loss, 10 sacks, and two forced fumbles in 46 games (20 starts) for the Ravens.

He also recorded a sack and recovered a fumble during the team's Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers in 2013.

With the Colts, Jones played in just 17 games of those seasons, recording 53 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and one forced fumble.

Jones was the brother of long-time NFL defensive lineman Chandler Jones and UFC fighter Jon Jones.
