The Atlanta Falcons signed quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and tight end Austin Hooper to a pair of one-year deals on Monday.

Tagovailoa, 28, was swooped up by the Falcons just a few hours after the Miami Dolphins released him (details here). He's coming off a 2025 season in which he threw for 2,660 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions - a career-high - across 14 games.

The veteran quarterback will compete with Michael Penix Jr. for the starting position.

Hooper, 31st, spent the past couple of seasons with the New England Patriots as a reliable backup to Hunter Henry, missing just one game in his two-year tenure with them and only two games in the past five seasons.

He posted just 263 receiving yards and two touchdowns, but will serve as a viable backup to their younger tight end Kyle Pitts, who they franchised tagged earlier in the offseason (details here).

Hooper spent the first four seasons of his career with the Falcons after they drafted him in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft, earning two Pro Bowl selections in back-to-back seasons (2018-2019).

The Falcons also signed defensive end Cameron Thomas to a one-year, $3.1 million deal.
