This marks the third time in his career that Ditlev has set a world record over the Ironman distance. He lost the record this summer but has now reclaimed it.
Magnus Ditlev was significantly faster than his competitors, finishing 14 minutes and 8 seconds ahead of the runner-up and 16 minutes and 31 seconds ahead of the third-place finisher in Florida.
Just a month ago, things went wrong at the World Championships; after leading for a long stretch, he completely "hit the wall." In the wake of that performance, he wrote on Instagram that the past two years had been difficult, marked by illness and disappointing results.
But now, he has managed to turn things around—once again.
This fast time and performance also mean that Magnus Ditlev has secured a spot at next year’s World Championships in Hawaii.
