The Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2 in a Game 2 overtime win on Monday night.

With a minute and some change left, Taylor Hall sent home the game-winner as the Canes took a 2-0 series lead. It is Hall's first career playoff overtime goal in his 16-year NHL career.

Goaltender Frederik Andersen put up 38 total saves, 15 in overtime alone, as he has yet to allow more than two goals in a game these entire playoffs.

The Canes take a 2-0 series lead as it heads to Philadelphia for Game 3 on May 7th.

Recap & Highlights

The Flyers took off right after puck drop and put up two goals within 39 seconds of each other on just their first three shots.

Jamie Drysdale scored his second goal of the playoffs to give the Flyers an early 1-0 lead on the team's first power play of the game.

Philly had previously gone 2-for-21 on the power play during these playoffs.

It became the first time the Hurricanes had trailed in a game since April 7th before Philly doubled their lead just 39 seconds later.

Sean Couturier scored his first goal of the playoffs off of Carl Grundstrom's first assist to make it 2-0

The 39 seconds between each goal mark the second fastest between two separate goals in the franchise's past 15 years.

Their fastest time was 37 seconds in Game 1 of the 2012 Eastern Conference semi-finals against the New Jersey Devils.

But, much like the Flyers, the Hurricanes would find the scoreboard on their first power play of the game.

Both teams went a combined 0-for-8 on the power play in Game 1, but started 2-for-2 in Game 2.

Nikolaj Ehlers scored his first goal of the playoffs to cut the lead to 2-1, with assists from Jackson Blake (5) and K'Andre Miller (4).

Philly would get caught for having too many men on the ice, leaving the Canes with 1:05 left on their third power play of the game, rolling over into the second period.

Carlina outshot Philly in the first period 10-6, while the Flyers got the better of the Canes on the physical end, outhitting them 17-11 and putting up five blocked shots to their two.

After Carolina failed to get anything done on the rollover power play, Philly would go on one of their own. But Rasmus Ristolainen received a tripping penalty to force the game into a 4-on-4 for under 20 seconds before Carolina went back on the power play with 1:40 of time, making it the seventh between both teams in the first 25 minutes of the game.

Then, Travis Sanheim would make what would be the save of the game when he got his stick on the puck just in time before it crossed the line under Vladar's legs.

Following suit, Philly would go on yet another power play, making it three straight without a single shot on goal - their first goal being their only one.

After another failed Carolina power play with four minutes to go in the second, Andrei Svechnikov would get called for high-sticking, making it 10 power plays before the end of the second period.

Both teams would enter the third going a combined 0-for-8.

Vladar's 16 saves in the second period tied a career-high that he set earlier in the year against the Boston Bruins.

But his hot streak in net during Game 2 cooled down after Carolina tied things up with under nine minutes to go after Seth Jarvis scored his first goal of the playoffs to make it 2-2.

It was Jarvis' first goal since April 4th and his 20th career playoff goal, the third most in franchise history behind Sebastian Aho (37) and Svechnikov (23).

Both teams would have a full two minutes of 4-on-4 action, but neither took advantage of the extra ice space as the game went to overtime, where the Canes would take the Game 2 win.

After each scored on the power play in their first attempts, the Flyers and Canes combined for a brutal 0-for-11 the rest of the way.
