Hutson, 19, could make his NHL debut during the Capitals' next game on Wednesday, March 18th, against the Ottawa Senators.
Washington selected Hutson in the second round of the 2024 NHL Draft. He finished the past two seasons at Boston University, leading all defencemen across college hockey with 80 points (24 goals, 56 assists) in 74 games.
Last year, Hutson became the first defenseman in World Juniors history to lead the entire tournament in scoring after he put up 11 points in seven games, eventually helping the USA to a gold medal.
The Caps mrecently traded long-term franchise defenseman John Carlson at the deadline as they look to bring up their young stars for playing time.
