Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Corbin Burnes will undergo Tommy John surgery, effectively ending his 2025 season, according to the team.
Burnes was recently placed on the 10-day injured list with 'elbow inflammation' after he left his previous start, in which he said his "elbow popped."
The 30-year-old signed a new six-year, $210 million deal with the Diamondbacks this past offseason and was on track to compete for his second Cy Young Award this year.
As his season ends, Burnes finished with a 3-2 record while throwing a 2.66 earned run average in 11 starts.
The righty gave up 49 hits and 26 walks in 64.1 innings this year while striking out 63 batters.
