The the NFL revealed on Monday some of the venues for its international games in the 2026 season. Among them is Madrid, which impressed the organization with last November’s Miami Dolphins 16-13 Washington Commanders matchup.
"The National Football League will return to Madrid, Spain, to play regular season games at the iconic Bernabeu stadium, home of Real Madrid C.F., as part of a multi-year partnership with the Madrid City Council and the Community of Madrid, starting with the 2026 NFL regular season", the NFL announced in a statement.
During the week of the first game in Spain, it was already reported that Florentino Perez and his team held meetings with the Miami Dolphins to ensure they would return as the home team for several years, so it’s likely that the Florida franchise will be back at the Madrid stadium this year.
But as the NFL’s statement explains, the Chicago Bears and Kansas City Chiefs also have commercial rights in Spain as part of the league’s Global Markets Program, so there’s a real chance fans could see Patrick Mahomes throwing bombs on the Santiago Bernabeu turf.
"This multi-year commitment to play games in Madrid, a world-class cultural and sporting destination, highlights our dedication to the market and allows us to keep engaging fans year-round and invest long-term in initiatives like NFL Flag and youth participation across the country", said Rafa De Los Santos, NFL Spain’s national director.
