The Carolina Panthers signed kicker Matthew Wright (28) to a reserves/future contract on Tuesday.

A reserves/future contract is a non-guaranteed deal that allows teams to sign players not on the 53-man roster. Wright cannot negotiate a deal with other teams while under the deal.

Wright was a backup golden ticket last season in the NFL. He made 15 of 16 field goals as a backup for three different teams including the Kansas City Chiefs, San Francisco 49ers, and Tennessee Titans.

Wright kicked for the Panthers in the team's final game of the 2023 season after starter Eddie Pineiro was out with an ankle injury.

Over the course of his seven-year career, Wright has made 55 of 63 field goal attempts (87.3%) and 41 of 43 extra points (95.3%). He earned himself a Super Bowl ring after kicking in two games for the Chiefs during the 2022 season.

The former software engineer turned NFL kicker will look to land his first starting job since 2021.
