Parramatta winger Josh Addo-Carr is likely to continue playing in blue and gold next year after his B-sample from a roadside drugs test returned negative.

Addo-Carr appeared to face an imminent sacking from an NRL club for the second time in his career after having initially tested positive to driving under the influence of cocaine at a roadside test in September.

A secondary sample, sent away for forensic testing, cleared Addo-Carr of all wrongdoing, with police confirming they won't be taking any further action.

"About 11.10pm on Friday (September 11), officers attached to Inner West Police Area Command were patrolling Enmore Road, Newtown, when they stopped the driver of a vehicle for random testing," a NSW Police statement reads.

"The driver — a 31-year-old man — was subjected to a roadside breath test, which returned a negative result.

"The driver underwent a preliminary drug wipe, which allegedly returned a positive indication for cocaine. An oral fluid sample was obtained and sent away for forensic testing. Following the testing the result has returned a negative result. No further police action is expected."

Addo-Carr has one year on a contract estimated to be worth about $500,000 per year, and his lawyer is expecting a determination from the Eels shortly about whether it will be honoured.

He and his legal representative Elias Tabchouri met with the Eels board on Monday evening, when Addo-Carr admitted to taking cocaine on the day he was tested by police.

It was that conduct, and Addo-Carr's reported time in a drug rehabilitation clinic afterwards, which will be taken into consideration by club management.

"That's a matter for the club right now. We're waiting for the outcome," Tabchouri said.

"Josh has always maintained, and still maintains, a commitment to the Parramatta club."

The 27-year-old scored 27 tries in 45 games for the Eels across 2025 and 2026, taking his first grade career tally to 167 - the seventh-most of all-time.
