West Ham v Tottenham (13/09/2025)

West Ham manager Graham Potter has already faced calls to be sacked this season and remains under pressure to deliver a positive result at home to Tottenham despite an outstanding win in Nottingham.

Match News and Current Form

The heat on Potter was somewhat tempered with a surprise 3-0 win away to Europa League side Nottingham Forest, putting behind them the worry of consecutive league losses as well as an early EFL Cup elimination at the hand of Wolves. The break may have come at the wrong time after they recorded their biggest winning margin since October 2024 (4-1 Ipswich), but the beleaguered boss won’t be off the hook until the Hammers establish some winning consistency, having recorded back-to-back victories just once during Potter’s 23-game tenure (W6, D5, L12).

Tottenham’s new era under Thomas Frank took a backward step when they lost 1-0 at home to Bournemouth, prior to a change upstairs when chairman Daniel Levy ended his hands-on chairmanship of nearly 25 years at the club. Levy left after a net spend of £145m during the transfer window, and only time will tell if it produces results. Tottenham still have a long way to go to be considered a genuine contender to finish in the upper echelons of the table after losing 17 of their last 23 Premier League matches (W3, D3), when excluding newly-promoted clubs such as Burnley in August.

Head-to-Head History

West Ham’s only victory from their last seven games against Tottenham (D3, L3) came at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in December 2023, while Spurs haven’t won a game at the London Stadium since November 2019 (D3, L2), with the most recent three ending in 1-1 stalemates.
