Hamburg will hope to make it three Bundesliga wins in succession by taking advantage of a Stuttgart side who could be slightly jaded following their midweek UEFA Champions League endeavours.

Match News and Current Form

After losing their opening three Bundesliga matches this season, Hamburg fans may have been expecting the worst, but successive victories have eased concerns that a season-long slog of battling relegation awaits them. The hosts now go in search of three consecutive top-flight successes for the first time since August 2017 and a return to the Volksparkstadion could come at the perfect time having won two of their last three at this venue - one more victory than across their previous nine attempts combined. It’s easy to see why results have largely been hard to come by here too, as Hamburg are without a clean sheet in 19 Bundesliga games - their longest such streak since 1967!

Stuttgart have put together an indifferent start to the season, though the past week has proven to be a lot kinder to the visitors with away wins to nil against Paderborn in the Bundesliga and Slovan Bratislava in European action. The first of those proved particularly welcome as it acted as the Swabians’ first away league win since mid-March and now gives them the opportunity to win successive Bundesliga fixtures on the road for the first time in nine months. Although results haven’t always been there on their travels, goals have for Stuttgart, who have scored in each of their last 24 away league outings - an ongoing club record and the longest active streak in the Bundesliga.

Head-to-Head History

Hamburg have lost five of their last six competitive games against Stuttgart, though they did win last season’s corresponding fixture 2-1.

Hot Stats and Streaks

Key Players to Watch and Missing Players

Yussuf Poulsen has netted in each of his last two games for Hamburg, with three of his last four home club goals coming beyond the 80th minute. Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller grabbed a brace of assists in his last league outing, and although his last domestic goal came against Hamburg, committing the third-most Bundesliga fouls of any Stuttgart player this season suggests he’s likelier to be booked.

Hamburg are missing a number of players here, including star forward Albert Grønbæk, while Max Mittelstädt headlines Stuttgart’s list of absentees.

Betting Analysis

With goals flowing so freely in Stuttgart’s Bundesliga away matches, backing both teams to score and over 3.5 goals could make sense.
