Greece v Denmark (08/09/2025)

Sitting pretty at the top of Group C after a big win on Friday, Greece attempt to make it back-to-back wins in World Cup qualifying (WCQ) as they host Denmark, who were held to a draw on match day one.

Match News and Current Form

Greece kicked off their qualifying campaign in perfect fashion by registering their joint-biggest margin of victory ever in a WCQ game with a 5-1 thrashing of Belarus on Friday. That extended Greece’s strong run of form to four successive victories, and having also won ten of their last 12 internationals (L2), their uptick in form has been prolonged. It is therefore no surprise that fans are growing ever more hopeful that their team, who are the second-highest ranked nation in Group C behind their opponents here, can qualify for a first major tournament since 2014.

Denmark drew 0-0 with Scotland in their WCQ opener, and as a result of that stalemate, they have now won just one of their last seven competitive internationals (D3, L3). History suggests the Red and Whites will at least be back on the scoresheet here, given they have only failed to score in back-to-back matches on three occasions since the start of September 2020. The travelling Danish supporters won’t want to just see goals though, they’ll be keen to see their side finally win on foreign soil, something they haven’t done since October 2023 (D5, L4), and even that was against FIFA’s lowest-ranked nation, San Marino.

Head-to-Head History

Greece have only won three of the 15 H2Hs between these sides (D4, L8), with Denmark winning three of the last five in a competitive setting (D1, L1).

Hot Stats and Streaks

Greece’s last four internationals saw over 2.5 goals.

Greece have conceded exactly once in each of their last five home WCQ games.

Just one of Denmark’s last 11 WCQ games saw both teams score.

Denmark have netted eight of their last 12 goals after half-time.

Key Players to Watch and Missing Players

Konstantinos Karetsas has enjoyed an impressive start to his international career, grabbing two goals and an assist across four caps for Greece, with both goals arriving before the break. Rasmus Højlund may be the man to get Denmark off to a solid start having opened the scoring on four of his five international scoring appearances.

Greece appear to have come through their opening qualifier unscathed, while Denmark are also expected to report a clean bill of health.

Betting Analysis

These two teams have shown defensive frailties recently, so backing both teams to score seems the obvious pick here.
