Barcelona v Getafe (21/09/2025)

Barcelona return to their temporary home of the Estadi Johan Cruyff looking to extend their unbeaten start to the La Liga season against a Getafe side who are enjoying their best-ever start to a top-flight campaign.

Match News and Current Form

Barcelona marked their first ‘home’ game of the campaign with a devastating 6-0 victory over Valencia in front of a crowd of just 6000 people, a result that followed seven points from their opening three away trips. A 2-1 win away at Newcastle United on Thursday night in their UEFA Champions League opener kept the feelgood factor going, and few would bet against another positive result here given Barcelona have won ten of their last 12 La Liga home games (D1, L1). Goals certainly haven’t been in short supply in those games either, as four of the last five saw at least five total match goals.

Getafe certainly won’t arrive with fear after a flying start with three wins from their first four games (L1), with their nine-point haul serving as their best-ever points tally at this stage of a La Liga season. Their 2-0 success over Oviedo last time out ensured they sit fourth heading into this round, and with longer to prepare than their hosts due to having no midweek fixture, they’ll boast a physical advantage coming into this one. That extra preparation time could prove invaluable for boss José Bordalás, who has lost ten of his 14 La Liga matches against Barcelona (W1, D3).

Head-to-Head History

Getafe have never won away to Barcelona in La Liga (D4, L16), but they have at least managed to take points in five of their last ten league meetings with the Catalan giants (W1, D4, L5).
